| STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – Last night, March 19, 2026, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office faced off against the Stafford County Public School educators in the annual D.A.R.E. Basketball Game. The game was held at Brooke Point High School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The funds from this year will go toward hosting activities for the 10-week D.A.R.E program taught to fifth graders across Stafford County. Thirteen deputies and fourteen educators competed against one another in front of a lively crowd filled with students, parents, law enforcement and school staff.
The game went back and forth, as the gym showed support for their favorite educators and law enforcement personnel. Ultimately, it was the Stafford County Public School educators that pulled away with the victory, 53-49.
The event is part of a collaboration between the public school system and the Sheriff’s Office.
The D.A.R.E. program focuses on decision-making skills to help students resist drugs, alcohol, vapes, peer pressure, bullying and other high-risk behaviors. The program culminates every year with a ceremony where the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office honors graduates with certificates of completion.
