A Stafford driver made his second DUI pretty obvious by shining his high beams at a deputy.

On June 22nd at approximately 1:48 a.m. Deputy F.A. Martinez was traveling on Southbound Warrenton Road in the area of Soloman Drive. While doing so, a Jetta traveling Northbound caught his eye. It was pretty eye-catching due to the fact the vehicle had its high beams shining bright like a diamond. Considering this wasn’t a Rihanna song, Deputy Martinez knew of the potential dangers and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Prior to stopping, Deputy Martinez observed the Jetta zig and zag out of the lane of travel.

Deputy P.J. Leon responded to assist in the traffic stop and the deputies made contact with the driver. The driver, identified as Ambro Martin Jr., 29, had signs of intoxication, including glassy, bloodshot eyes. When asked how much he had to drink, Martin admitted to consuming one shot of vodka. That number quickly rose to two shots, then to three. Within the vehicle deputies observed a black shopping bag, commonly acquired from the local liquor store. Within it were bottles fit for an aristocrat. Martin would have a prior DUI and a suspended license.

Martin was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years, drinking while driving, driving while suspended, and failure to maintain the lane of travel. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
