A deputy and reckless driver would reconnect for their second pursuit. Unfortunately for the reckless driver, this pursuit would have a different outcome.
On November 18th, 2024, at approximately 10:25 a.m. Deputy R. Tully was in the area of Wawa, located at 3099 Richmond Highway. While there, he observed a male get into a black Dodge Challenger with tinted windows and no front license plate pull out of the parking lot in a reckless manner. Deputy Tully attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the Challenger driver decided to challenge him. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed towards Northbound I-95, resulting in a pursuit. Due to the heavy traffic and absolute disregard for the safety of others by the driver, Deputy Tully decided to terminate the pursuit.
The termination of the pursuit was not the end of the investigation. Since then, Deputy Tully has been working on collecting evidence and information regarding the suspect so charges could be obtained when he was identified. His hard work would eventually pay off.
On April 8th at approximately 1:29 p.m. Deputy Tully was patrolling the area of Richmond Highway and Garrisonville Road. While doing so, he observed the black Dodge Challenger he was very familiar with traveling Northbound. As soon as Deputy Tully attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the Challenger increased its speed, resulting in a pursuit: the sequel. The Challenger would turn onto Coachman Circle and through the parking lot of the 7-Eleven in a manner to avoid Deputy Tully. His efforts were in vain for with Deputy Tully still right behind him, the driver stopped in the parking lot of the Staybridge Suites.
Despite stopping, the driver refused to put the vehicle in park and had his foot on the brake. Deputy Tully remained in his cruiser as additional deputies arrived in the event of a pursuit part three. Due to the driver refusing numerous commands, the Challenger was boxed in by deputies’ cruisers to prevent it from fleeing and the driver was removed from the vehicle.
The driver for both pursuits was identified as Gloree Belchie, 25, of Dumfries. Belchie was found in possession of a firearm, suspected controlled substances, yet, no driver’s license. He was charged with two counts of felony eluding, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession of a firearm while in possession of controlled substances, obstruction of justice, reckless driving, improper display of a license plate, illegal window tint, having an expired inspection sticker, and to top it off, driving without a license. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Amazing work to Deputy Tully for remaining vigilant and not giving up locating a reckless driver. |
