Juveniles that participated in a group mobbing were located thanks to concerned citizens who observed the attack.
On March 25th, at approximately 5:26 p.m., Deputy X.D. Bates responded to the area of Mine Road and Cathedral Drive for reports of an assault. Witnesses advised multiple individuals exited a vehicle and began assaulting an individual walking in the area. Thanks to the detailed description of the suspect vehicle provided by witnesses, Deputy J.J. Holetzky began searching for it as Deputy Bates made contact with the victim.
The juvenile victim received minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital out of abundance of caution. It was discovered the assaulting juveniles had prior issues with the victim. When they observed the victim walking in the area, they jumped out and, without cause, assaulted him. Deputy Holetzky was able to locate the suspect vehicle in Aquia Landing and made contact with the occupants. Both juvenile attackers admitted to participating in the attack.
A criminal complaint for assault by mob was submitted for each assaulting juvenile. Juvenile Intake was contacted; however, declined detention, so the pair was released to their respective parents. |
