On March 19th at approximately 6:06 a.m. Deputy W.J. Walker responded to the 500 block of Cambridge Street for an auto accident. The caller advised he believed he struck a deer. When Deputy Walker arrived, he began searching the reported crash area and located an adult male lying on the ground with apparent injuries.
Additional deputies responded and Fire and Rescue staff were quickly contacted. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation revealed the driver was traveling Northbound on Cambridge Street in the right lane as the pedestrian was walking Southbound and was struck. The driver of the striking vehicle did remain on scene, was uninjured, and is cooperating with the investigation.
The pedestrian was identified as Gregory Breeden, 52, of Stafford. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Breeden. The crash is still under investigation by Deputy Walker. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Deputy Walker at 540-658-4450. |
