Two juveniles were found in possession of stolen firearms in South Stafford after a physical altercation.
On March 16th at approximately 6:06 p.m. Sergeant J.D. Hurt, Deputy S.C. Steinway, Deputy M.A. Holub and Deputy S.T. Myers responded to Ridgemore Street for a fight in progress. When deputies arrived, the suspects began to take off into the woods. Despite their efforts, two 17-year-olds were located and detained without further incident.
It was discovered the two had been drinking Twisted Tea and trash-talking each other. The altercation would escalate into a physical disagreement just prior to deputies arriving. While investigating, deputies learned firearms may have been present during the altercation. Due to this concern, Deputy Myers deployed his K-9 partner, Gunner, and began searching the woods the pair fled into. Gunner would have a successful track through the woods leading deputies to a handgun hidden under some leaves. As deputies collected the firearm, Gunner was not done and led deputies to yet another hidden firearm. Both firearms were found to have an altered serial number and were stolen.
Both juveniles received criminal complaints for disorderly conduct, underage possession of alcohol, public intoxication, obstruction of justice, possession of a stolen firearm, underage possession of a firearm, and altering the serial number of a firearm. Juvenile Intake was contacted and elected to detain both suspects. They were held at the Juvenile Detention Center. |
