March madness continues in Stafford, but not because of basketball. A 31-year-old Stafford man caused numerous scenes while in an intoxicated state that would end in a stall standoff.

On March 15th at approximately 5:52 p.m. Deputy C.A. Sharp responded to a residence on Almond Drive for a disturbance. It was advised a male suspect was screaming and throwing items out of the residence. When Deputy Sharp arrived, he was met with broken glass scattered across the road, decorations thrown along the sidewalk, and a Ring camera that had been ripped off a door. It was discovered the suspect, Ryan Reid, damaged these items after “going on a rage.” It was further advised by witnesses that Reid fled the scene in a blue Acura.

Meanwhile, just down the street at Wawa, located at 920 Wonder Road, Deputy S.M. Kotter responded to a different disturbance. The caller advised a male was yelling random things at her. It was further advised the suspect was driving a blue Acura. When Deputy Kotter arrived, he observed Reid quickly enter the adjacent McDonald’s, but not for a Shamrock Shake.

Reid would attempt to hide in a bathroom stall. Multiple orders were given for him to exit the stall, but he refused. When the topic of using OC spray was brought up, Reid quickly changed his tune and he complied. He was detained without further incident. Reid had signs of intoxication including the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Utilizing security footage, Deputy Kotter was able to confirm Reid drove to the Wawa, parked in a handicap spot before getting out and yelling at the caller.

Reid was charged with dumping trash on private property, throwing hazardous materials on the highway, destruction of property, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, and two counts of refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
