A 42-year-old Maryland man was found behind the wheel with not only suspected controlled substances, but with children present.
On March 2nd at approximately 9:36 p.m. Deputy C.A. Osborne responded to the area of Town Center Boulevard for an unknown problem. It was advised a male was passed out behind the wheel and there were children present in the vehicle. Due to the description provided by the caller, deputies located the suspect vehicle in the area of Richmond Highway and Coachman Circle. When the vehicle conducted a traffic lane violation, a traffic stop was conducted.
Deputy Osborne made contact with the driver, identified as Aaron Clark. Clark not only had signs of being under the influence of controlled substances, but a noticeable amount of a white powdery substance on his lip and nose. During a search of Clark’s person, Deputy Osborne located suspected controlled substances. Clark would admit to using cocaine.
As Clark was detained a search of his vehicle was conducted. Additional suspected cocaine was located. Due to both children being within close proximity of the suspected narcotic, Fire and Rescue was dispatched out of an abundance of caution to check for possible exposure. Luckily, no exposure was detected and the children were released into the care of a responsible adult.
Clark was charged with felony child neglect, driving under the influence, possession of controlled substances, and failure to maintain the lane of travel. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
