Just like something out of “The Parent Trap,” a 21-year-old attempted to avoid arrest by posing as his twin brother. This would only add additional charges to his transgression.

On January 22nd at approximately 11:12 p.m. Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to the Chatham Bridge for a report of a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road. The driver, twin one, advised he was having electrical issues while driving. He would hand Deputy Quebedeaux twin two’s driver license and identify himself as twin two.

If you are confused already, so were deputies. Unlike Lindsay Lohan, these twins weren’t identical, causing a bit of doubt that the driver was being truthful. Comparing pictures between twin one and twin two, deputies were nearly certain the driver was twin one. Twin one had a revoked license due to a previous DUI incident. Additional deputies responded to help unwind the twinning mystery.

Using law enforcement databases, First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf was able to discover the phone number of twin one. When he called the phone, the driver’s phone began to ring. Faced with this and additional evidence, the driver finally came clean that he was in fact twin one. He would admit to falsely identifying himself as twin two in an attempt to avoid a driving while revoked charge. In the end he would still receive that charge, and now many more.

Twin one was charged with driving while revoked, unlawful name change, identity fraud to avoid arrest, and providing a false identity to law enforcement. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 secured bond.
