“Relaxing” Arrest

A relaxing drive doesn’t often end in an arrest, but did late Friday when a 62-year-old decided to drink and drive.

On January 10th at approximately 10:45 p.m. Sergeant R.S. Dominguez was patrolling the less than calm area of Garrisonville Road. While doing so, he observed an Acura stopped nearly in the middle of the intersection of Center Street. Upon further inspection, he discovered the driver was asleep at the wheel. The only thing preventing the Acura from rolling off and away was the driver’s foot on the brake.

Deputy T.G. Croson responded to assist and deputies blocked the vehicle in just in case the driver woke up and decided to floor it. Despite the bright and pretty blue lights from deputies’ cruisers, the driver still had a hard time waking up. When the deep sleeper did awaken, deputies noticed he had glassy and bloodshot eyes. The driver, who was just “relaxing,” admitted to consuming a Long Island iced tea prior to getting behind the wheel. Empty alcoholic cans were located within the vehicle.

While Long Island might have been his destination prior to driving, it was now Rappahannock Regional Jail. The driver, Robert Barrow Jr., of Stafford, was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five to ten years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
