A hit and run that occurred on Saturday will cost someone a pretty penny this holiday season. Luckily, the driver left behind clues on where to send that bill despite their attempts to cover it up.

On December 7th at approximately 9:06 a.m. Deputy S.A. Hensley responded to Falls Run Stone & Stucco, located at 700 Nelms Circle, for a hit and run. It was advised a vehicle crashed into the business’s sign.

While the photos of the damages speak for themselves, Deputy Hensley was able to investigate a bit further. He determined the Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed when it had its’ run in with the sign. Despite the vehicle being left at the scene of the crime, identifying information, such as both license plates, were removed. Thanks to the power of technology, that would not be a problem for Deputy Hensley.

Camera footage showed the crash occurred the night prior at approximately 9:30 p.m. After the crash, the driver can be seen frantically removing items from the vehicle. He would then deposit these items across the street into another lot. With this new information, Deputy Hensley made the short trip across the street. There, he would discover a treasure trove of information hidden in an old washing machine. Items like the license plates and identifying information for the driver were located.

As the investigation continues, if anyone has information or witnessed the hit and run, please contact the Sheriff’s Office.
