Brick by brick, deputies were able to create a case against a brick wielding Stafford man who started his crime spree by drinking underage.

On November 17th at approximately 6:34 a.m. Deputy M.N. Sayegh responded to 610 Mart & Tobacco, located at 395 Garrisonville Road, for a business alarm. When she arrived, she discovered one of the doors was damaged and a massive brick was out front. Using the powers of deduction, it was believed someone attempted to enter the business using the brick to break the glass. This plan failed, for the business was still secured.

Contact was made with staff, who were able to bring up camera footage. The footage showed a male suspect approach the business with the brick and throw it at the door. When the glass didn’t shatter, the suspects’ hopes of entering the business did. He would walk off shortly after his attempt.

Deputy Sayegh searched the Garrisonville Road area for the possible suspect. While doing so, she would observe a male perfectly matching the suspect caught on camera near Onville Road. She would make contact with the 20-year-old suspect, who had red glossy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The suspect would admit to being under the influence and attempting to break into the business. He would further advise that he was “not making the best decisions.” The list of bad decisions would continue as it was discovered he stole chips from Walmart moments ago and was in possession of alcohol.

The suspect was charged with attempted breaking and entering, destruction of property, larceny, underage possession of alcohol, and public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
