A simple traffic stop resulted in a 41-year-old Stafford woman being arrested for yet another DUI.

On November 15th at approximately 9:50 p.m. Sergeant A.T. Leckemby was traveling Northbound on Richmond Highway when he observed a vehicle with an expired registration. He would attempt to conduct a traffic stop; however, the vehicle would continue slow-rolling onto Bells Hill Road and then Oak Drive before eventually taking the hint and pulling over.

Sergeant Leckemby would make contact with the driver, identified as Erina Cabral Morales. Morales had signs of intoxication and an inspection sticker that expired back in 2022. She would advise she consumed “some” alcohol before getting behind the week because she “usually” drinks before getting home, which she advised was “two weeks” away. It would not take two weeks to conduct field sobriety tests.

After field sobriety tests, Morales was detained. During a search of her vehicle, numerous empty or near empty bottles of liquor were located. It was also discovered she had a previous DUI back in October of this year.

Morales was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content above .2, drinking while driving, having an expired inspection, and registration. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
