A wanted 27-year-old Stafford man attempted to flee from a traffic stop, but didn’t make it too far Saturday afternoon.

On November 2nd 4:19 p.m. Deputy W.A. Bolinsky conducted a traffic stop on a white box truck in the area of Richmond Highway and Cranes Corner. Moments later, the occupant of the box truck would begin fleeing on foot and into the woods. Luckily, additional deputies were close by and flooded the area. Deputy C.M. Sterne would turn onto Yellow Finch Way and observed the suspect exiting the woods.

Why did the suspect cross the road? To try to hide in the brush. As the suspect sprinted across the road towards another section of woods, Deputy Sterne exited his cruiser and gave chase on foot. Approximately 20 yards into the woods Deputy Sterne caught up to the suspect who quickly went limp and immediately surrendered.

The suspect was identified as Dean Gallahan Jr. Gallahan was wanted out of Stafford County for felony probation violation. He was served on his outstanding warrant and additionally charged with obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
