A 38-year-old Fredericksburg man was arrested after deputies discovered him in possession of a recent stolen vehicle.

On September 23rd at approximately 11:06 p.m. Deputy J.J. Suh responded to a vehicle larceny call at Dalo Motors, located at 3001 Richmond Highway. Staff advised at approximately 6:32 p.m. an unknown suspect unlawfully entered the business. The suspect stole keys to a red Hyundai Sonata and used them to drive the vehicle off the lot. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hoodie with white writing on it.

On October 19th at approximately 8:58 a.m. First Sergeant J.D. Floirendo received information regarding the stolen vehicle. The anonymous tipster advised the stolen vehicle was at Wawa on Garrisonville Road, now with North Carolina registration displayed. First Sergeant Floirendo would arrive at Wawa, located at 105 Garrisonville Road, and locate the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by one person and the North Carolina registration was discovered to be stolen.

When Deputy F.A. Martinez arrived, he and First Sergeant Floirendo conducted a high-risk stop. The driver was detained without incident. The driver was identified as Edriques Gills. Located within the vehicle were the clothes the suspect was seen wearing during the original larceny. A cold to the touch Bud Light was also located within the vehicle, which was discovered to be stolen from Wawa by Gills moments prior to deputy’s arrival.

Gills was charged with grand larceny, larceny, and shoplifting. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. The vehicle was returned to Dalo Motors.
