What’s going on? A wanted Stafford man, who is very familiar with law enforcement, was located and arrested due to the observant Deputy X.D. Bates.
On October 17th at approximately 6:46 p.m. Deputy Bates was conducting a proactive patrol on Madison Court. While there, he observed a vehicle sitting outside of one of the residences. This vehicle was known to be associated with Samuel Johnson, 36, an individual known to Deputy Bates. Johnson was wanted out of Stafford County for failure to appear, violating a pretrial condition, and two larceny offenses. Deputy Bates observed the brake lights of the vehicle on, meaning someone was inside. He would approach the vehicle in order to make a consensual encounter. While doing so, he observed Johnson exit the vehicle. Johnson would acknowledge Deputy Bates with a casual “What’s going on Bates?” What was going on was he was about to be detained.
Deputy Bates informed Johnson of his wanted status and attempted to detain him. Johnson’s behavior quickly changed and he started to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, Johnson was placed into handcuffs. During a search, he was discovered to be in possession of suspected controlled substances.
Johnson was served on his outstanding warrants and additionally charged with possession of controlled substances and obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
