The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an unusual vehicle theft in North Stafford.
On October 6th at approximately 9:33 p.m. Deputy J.J. Suh responded to Castlebury Court for a missing vehicle report. The victim advised his Honda Insight was nowhere to be found. In response, the vehicle was entered as stolen into a law enforcement database.
On October 7th at approximately 6:35 a.m. Deputy C.M. Ramirez responded to the same residence. This time, the vehicle was exactly where it was stolen from. It appeared that nothing was stolen from the vehicle and the vehicle was no longer labeled as stolen.
On October 8th at approximately 3:06 a.m. Deputy R.T. Philippsen would also respond to the same residence. This time, the victim advised he observed the suspect. The victim had his vehicle stolen at approximately 2:06 a.m. About an hour later, the suspect returned the vehicle and the victim began chasing him on foot. The victim chased the suspect until the 200 block of Fair Oaks Avenue where he lost visual of the suspect. The suspect was described as a black male with an afro-style haircut wearing a sweatshirt and blue jeans. Again, it appeared that nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
