A 19-year-old King George man earned felony offenses for his midnight joyride as he attempted to flee from deputies.
On September 17th just after midnight, Deputy K.W. Suter was in the area of Kings Highway and Sherwood Forest Farm Road. While there, he observed a Nissan Sentra traveling 86 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Deputy Suter activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, the Nissan accelerated to speeds above 100 MPH, initiating a pursuit.
Deputy Suter followed the vehicle as it traveled Eastbound towards the King George County line. Shortly after the driver crossed the King George County line he lost control and rolled the vehicle belly up in a sign of surrender. A power line was damaged in the accident.
The masked driver was extracted from the vehicle with only minor injuries and was detained. The driver, identified as Tavon Allen, was charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, and wearing a mask in public. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
