A 45-year-old South Carolina woman was arrested Friday morning for driving under the influence with a juvenile present.
On September 6th at approximately 12:48 a.m. Sergeant A.T. Leckemby responded to a disturbance. A third-party caller received information that Jennifer Perseghin was “not doing well” and was possibly under the influence while behind the wheel. It was further advised she was randomly yelling at people on Bradburn Place despite no one being in the area.
Sergeant Leckemby located the suspect vehicle at Genesis Logistics, located at 705 Bradburn Place, and made contact with Perseghin. While conversing with Perseghin, who was now out of the vehicle, deputies noticed several signs of intoxication. Within the vehicle was a juvenile family member. During their conversation, Perseghin thought it was a good decision to re-enter her vehicle despite deputies’ commands to stop.
Deputies attempted to detain her and she would resist. To prevent this incident turning into a pursuit, Sergeant Leckemby would take the keys out of the ignition. She eventually was removed from the vehicle and detained. It was advised Perseghin smoked crack approximately twenty minutes ago. Deputies located a pipe containing a suspected controlled substance within the vehicle.
Perseghin was charged with driving under the influence, felony child neglect, possession of controlled substances, as well as, obstruction of justice. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond while the juvenile was turned over to a responsible adult. |
