A wanted 32-year-old Alexandria man was located after causing a DUI related crash Sunday night.
On August 11th at approximately 9:13 p.m. Sergeant J.F. Forman and Deputy D.S. Jett responded to Kings Highway near Little Street for an auto accident. The caller advised she witnessed a head on collision in which the at fault driver was traveling Westbound in the Eastbound lanes. She would further advise the suspect vehicle was now fleeing, still traveling on the wrong side of the road.
As Deputy Jett made contact with the victim, who was not seriously injured, Sergeant Forman searched the area for the suspect vehicle. He would locate it, and the driver, in the McDonald’s parking lot, located at 545 Ferry Road. The driver, identified as Manrique Henriquez Rodriguez, had extremely bloodshot eyes and an extremely strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Rodriguez was wanted out of Alexandria for a failure to appear offense and was detained. Within the vehicle, deputies located several empty Modelo beer cans despite Rodriguez admitting to only consuming “one beer.” It was also discovered this was not his first offense driving without a license.
Rodriguez was charged with driving under the influence, hit and run, reckless driving, two counts of refusal, driving without a license, driving without insurance, driving on the wrong side of the road, and having an expired registration. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
