Just because one pretends to not be home doesn’t mean deputies are just going to give up. A wanted 35-year-old man discovered this after a brief conversation with deputies.

On July 26th at approximately 3:31 p.m. deputies responded to a residence on Clift Farm Road for a warrant service. The suspect was wanted out of Caroline County for violating a protective order and annoying phone calls. When deputies arrived, they observed the suspect through a window, and the suspect observed them back. The suspect would inquire why deputies were there, and when informed of his wanted status, he advised he needed to make a phone call. The suspect would walk out of view and fail to return.

Multiple attempts were made to contact him again; however, the suspect refused to answer. The suspect was pretending he wasn’t home, which was a flawed plan from the start. This would only delay his date with handcuffs, for after numerous attempts to have the suspect surrender, deputies made entry into the residence.

The suspect would continue his hide and seek game by hiding behind a locked basement door. When deputies informed him this door would not prevent his arrest, he eventually surrendered. Due to his troublesome acts, he was charged with obstruction of justice. He was served on that warrant, as well as his outstanding warrants. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond.
