A 31-year-old Stafford man’s need for speed ended in a felony Friday morning.
On July 19th at approximately 4:49 a.m. Deputy L.T. Ward was in the area of Warrenton Road and Cambridge Street. While there, he observed a Dodge Charger charging down the road at 60 MPH despite the 45 MPH zone posted signs. Deputy Ward conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.
The driver, Jimmy Chirinos, had signs of intoxication, including glassy, bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. When asked how much he had to drink, he gave the classic and well-known answer of “two beers.” He would further advise he did not have his license due to it being suspended.
Deputy Ward would discover Chirinos’s license was suspended due to a prior DUI incident. Three of them to be exact. Chirinos was charged with felony driving under the influence fourth offense within ten years, driving after forfeiture of his license, driving while suspended, and speeding. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
