Despite being seen by multiple deputies within a residence, a wanted man attempted to pretend to not be home with the help of a friend.

On June 29th at approximately 9:27 p.m. deputies responded to Ruffian Drive for a warrant service. A 52-year-old man was wanted for a capias with the underlying charge for threats to bomb. Deputies had information that the suspect was currently at the residence. If that wasn’t enough, they were able to play a bit of peekaboo and visually observed him sitting on the couch through a front window. Deputies were met at the door by a female who advised that was not the suspect they were looking for.

When her feeble attempt of a Jedi mind trick failed, she would shut the door, lock it, and turn out all the lights of the residence as if no one was home. This trick would also fail, for our deputies do not just walk away from a wanted suspect. Additional deputies responded to the residence and set up a perimeter in case the suspect attempted to flee. After some negotiating, the female would exit the residence and be detained. She was still adamant the suspect was not inside as deputies were given consent to search the residence.

During a search of the residence, in a not so shocking twist, deputies located the suspect attempting to hide in the basement. He was detained without further incident. The male suspect was served on his outstanding warrant, as well as, additionally charged with obstruction of justice. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. The female suspect was charged with two counts of obstruction of justice. She was released by the magistrate on personal recognizance.
