While scissors beats paper, a 54-year-old drunk driver discovered a Toyota was no match for a tree.

On June 28th at approximately 5:32 p.m. Deputy R.J. Kemp responded to the 600 block of Rock Hill Church Road for an auto accident. It was advised a vehicle struck a tree. After arriving on scene, Deputy Kemp discovered the vehicle had been making a left from Mountain View Road when it hit a stop sign, rode on an embankment before slamming head on into a tree. Luckily, the driver only sustained minor injuries.

Within the vehicle Deputy Kemp located an open Smirnoff bottle, as well as, a drinking cup that appeared to be filed with an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to provide details on what occurred to cause the crash, or where she was. She had noticeable signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming vodka prior to driving.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence and was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
