Detectives attempted to arrest a drug dealer Wednesday afternoon which resulted in additional charges for the suspect.
On the afternoon of June 26th detectives with the Special Investigations Unit had information regarding the whereabouts of Jovan Terrell Ellison, 36, of Chesterfield. Detectives had been investigating Ellison since 2023 and due to their investigations, he was wanted for the distribution of controlled substances.
Ellison was located in the area of Warrenton Road and the exit ramp from I-95 Southbound. When they observed him behind the wheel of a vehicle, they attempted to box him in with a rolling road block. Ellison would attempt to break out of the rolling road block, but his resistance was futile. As a result of the incident, multiple Sheriff’s Office vehicles were damaged and one deputy received minor injuries. Ellison was taken into custody and a large quantity of suspected controlled substances were discovered in his possession.
Ellison was served on his outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and the distribution of fentanyl under the Terrorism Act. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
