A missing and endangered man was safely located in Hartwood last night thanks to the quick response of deputies.
Just before 9:oo p.m. deputies responded to the 100 block of Poplar Road for a missing 94 year-old man. As deputies gathered information, they learned the man was last seen between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Due to the high temperatures, it was critical to mount a coordinated search.
The K-9, Drone and Search and Rescue Teams were contacted and a social media post was being prepared for the public. The Search and Rescue Team Coordinator, Deputy C.W. Reed, arrived and began a search around the immediate area. Thankfully, within 30 minutes of a deputy arriving on scene, the elderly man was safely located in the wooded area behind the residence.
The man was checked and released by medics. Additionally, Deputy Reed enrolled the man in the Project Lifesaver Program. Project Lifesaver provides residents who are prone to wander with bracelets that emit a signal for law enforcement to track.
