Two victims of recent thefts had their items returned after deputies discovered it in possession of an intoxicated male.
On June 24th at approximately 11:39 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates was patrolling the area of Garrison Woods. While there, he observed a male sitting on the sidewalk who appeared to be falling asleep in his own lap. Deputy Bates made contact with the male as Deputy P.J. Leon responded to assist.
During their late-night conversation, the 22-year-old admitted to having “molly” in his possession. Considering the signs of intoxication and this admission, he was detained. Suspected controlled substances were located in his possession; however, the findings did not stop there. In his bag, deputies discovered several identifications and credit cards that did not belong to him.
As Deputy Bates handled the public intoxication incident, Deputy Leon began investigating the credit cards. He was also to discover the suspect unlawfully entered vehicles in the Sky Terrace area and stole wallets located within. Due to these findings, the suspect was charged with public intoxication, possession of controlled substances, eleven counts of credit card theft, four counts of identity theft, two counts of larceny, and two counts of unlawful entry into a vehicle. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail while the stolen property was returned to their rightful owners. |
