A 36-year-old driver who felt “very little” effects of intoxication is surely feeling the effects of his poor choices after destroying three vehicles.

On June 21st at approximately 10:32 p.m. Deputy R.A. Peterson and Deputy C.D. Quebedeaux responded to the 3600 block of Richmond Highway for an auto accident. While three vehicles were involved, miraculously, no one was seriously hurt. As deputies conversed with the parties involved it was quickly discovered what occurred. The at fault Nissan was traveling Southbound on Richmond Highway when it drifted into the Northbound lanes and caused a crash which led to a domino effect. One witness advised the at fault vehicle was swerving “the whole entire time” before the crash.

The driver of the at fault vehicle had signs of intoxication so intense he needed to use his door in order to stand up straight. While at first he denied consuming anything remotely close to alcohol, he would later change his answer and admitted to consuming a bottle of white wine at the construction site he was working at. He would also advise he felt “very little” effects of the wine. Whether or not he felt the effect did not matter for driving under the influence was still a crime.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above .2, reckless driving, and crossing the double yellow line. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
