A 33-year-old Stafford man with numerous outstanding warrants was located and detained in a textbook stop early Friday morning.

On June 21st at approximately 6:00 a.m. deputies responded to the Excel Inn and Suites, located at 594 Warrenton Road, for a warrant service. Detectives were attempting to locate Markus Collins, who had built a rather long list of charges, since early June. Collins was wanted for possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, two counts of possession of controlled substances while in possession of a firearm, three counts of possession of controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances while in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute, and to top it all off, a capias charge. For anyone keeping score, that is ten charges.

Due to detective’s hard work, they were able to discover Collins was currently at the motel. Deputies and detectives flooded the area and waited for the perfect opportunity to detain him. Just after 7:30 a.m. deputies observed Collins exit the motel and get into a rideshare vehicle. After having visual confirmation, deputies moved in and conducted a textbook high risk stop. After being surrounded by deputies, and hearing K-9 Rip’s barking, Collins complied with deputies’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. He was served on all his warrants and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
