A wanted 33-year-old Maryland man was located by deputies after his vehicle stopped working while passing through Stafford County.

On April 11th at approximately 5:45 a.m. First Sergeant N. Zotos was traveling Southbound on Richmond Highway near Layhill Road. While doing so, he observed a disabled vehicle leaking fluid in one of the lanes of Richmond Highway. Concerned this could cause an auto accident, First Sergeant Zotos made contact with the driver to see what the trouble was. While doing so, he discovered additional troubles, resulting in Deputy C.S. Harding responding to assist.

While the displayed registration returned to a red Lexus, this vehicle was a white Acura. The registration also expired back in 2022. The driver was identified as Jose Santana, who was wanted out of Maryland for first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment. This Santana would not be given a guitar, but instead handcuffs to be placed in. During a search incident to arrest, suspected controlled substances were located on his person and a firearm was located concealed in the vehicle.

Santana was charged with fugitive from justice, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of controlled substances, having a fictitious registration, an open title, and expired inspection. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
