While many go to Virginia Beach for a vacation, one wanted Virginia Beach man will be vacationing at the Rappahannock Regional Resort after deciding to come to Stafford to steal.
On March 17th at approximately 4:29 p.m. Deputy R.L. Hubbard responded to Walmart, located at 11 Village Parkway, for a larceny. Staff advised they observed a male suspect pass all points of sales with a cart full of items. When staff confronted the shoplifter, he left his treasure behind and fled in his getaway sedan.
Deputy Hubbard was able to provide a good description of the suspect vehicle, as well as the suspect, most notably being his fisherman’s hat. Deputy F.C. O’Neill observed a vehicle that matched the description at the intersection of Warrenton Road and Banks Ford Parkway and conducted a traffic stop. Deputy O’Neill was able to confirm the driver and the shoplifter were one in the same, even down to the fisherman’s hat. Much like a fish on a line, the suspect was detained.
It was determined the suspect attempted to walk out with over $1,000 worth of items. While he advised he wasn’t stealing, just trying to use the bathroom. Considering the parking lot does not look like a restroom, it was easy to deduce that was a lie. The suspect also provided a false identity, which was quickly foiled. He was identified as Kenneth Ingram III, 32, who was wanted out of Virginia Beach for a felony capias. Ingram was also discovered to be in possession of suspected controlled substances.
Ingram was charged with grand larceny, shoplifting, possession of controlled substances, identity theft, and falsely identifying himself to law enforcement. He was also served on his outstanding warrant and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
