While that sounds like the name of a rock band group, it was a very real and dangerous situation that occurred Saturday morning resulting in a trip to Rappahannock Regional Jail faster than a train.
On March 9th, at approximately 12:52 a.m., Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to the intersection of Brent Point Road and Arkendale Road for a disabled vehicle call. The caller advised he witnessed a vehicle turn onto the train tracks and get stuck. He further advised he observed the driver get out and stumble around his vehicle.
When Deputy Edwards arrived, he discovered a Tesla stopped on the train tracks. Before Deputy Edwards had a chance to make contact with the suspect, he noticed a train quickly approaching. Deputy Edwards radioed dispatch to have the train stop and, out of abundance of caution, quickly got the suspect out of the vehicle and out of harm’s way. Luckily, the train did stop before meeting the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect attempted to blame his girlfriend for the incident, stating she was the driver and he was just a passenger. After talking to her, as well as the eye witness, that was determined to be false. The suspect had clear signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming “a few” alcoholic beverages. While the suspect missed the train, he did receive a one-way ticket to Rappahannock Regional Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence and refusal. He was held until sober. |
