Today’s fourth DUI involves a hit and run that didn’t run as far as they hoped.
On February 26th at approximately 1:40 p.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to Greenbank Road for a hit and run. The victim advised two unoccupied parked vehicles were stuck by an unknown vehicle. Luckily, the suspect made it easy for Deputy Amato. The suspect vehicle left behind not only its rear bumper, but its license plate.
With the evidence in hand, Deputy Amato informed nearby deputies of the suspect vehicle. At 2:08 a.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne located a disabled vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle’s description on Warrenton Road just before the Richmond Highway intersection. Like putting the last puzzle piece into its spot, this vehicle was missing its rear bumper and license plate. Deputy Sterne and Deputy Amato made contact with the driver who had clear signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming a long island ice tea before driving. The 24-year-old was charged with driving under the influence, hit and run, destruction of property, as well as, reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his ability to meet with the magistrate. |
