A 37-year-old Stafford woman ended her night with multiple felonies after starting it by striking a Tesla.
On February 25th at approximately 8:46 p.m. Deputy S.A. Fulford responded to a hit and run on Lansberry Park Drive. The caller advised his parked Tesla was stuck and no one was around to claim responsibility. Luckily for the victim, his Tesla captured the incident on camera.
Camera footage showed a Jeep backing up and struck the unoccupied vehicle. The driver then left the scene. A few minutes later, Deputy Fulford observed that same Jeep arrive on scene. One of the occupants in the Jeep advised she was driving it earlier when she struck the Tesla. She further explained it was an accident while dropping off two juveniles at this location. It was discovered another juvenile was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Deputy Fulford observed several signs of intoxication, as well as, the suspect admitted to consuming White Claws prior to driving the three juveniles.
The suspect, Karen Huff Herrera, was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above .2, as well as, three counts of child endangerment. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
