A wanted 64-year-old Stafford man made himself rather easy to locate after crashing his vehicle in front of a deputy.
On February 25th at approximately 12:15 a.m. Deputy R.W. Stamm was traveling on Garrisonville Road when he observed something you don’t see every day. A vehicle was traveling Southbound in the Northbound lanes before running a red light. Having witnessed the traffic violation, and a rather big clue the driver might be under the influence, Deputy Stamm decided to make a traffic stop.
Before Deputy Stamm was able to, the driver swerved off the roadway near the Quality Inn parking lot, located at 28 Greenspring Drive. There, it came to a complete stop when it made contact with a light pole. The driver had clear signs of intoxication and advised he drank three “tall” drinks at a nearby business. He would later agree with Deputy Stamm’s statement that he drank too much. It was also discovered the driver was wanted out of Stafford County for two larcenies.
While the suspect missed the Quality Inn’s breakfast buffet, he was able to make it in time for the Rappahannock Regional Jail special. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, failure to drive on the right side of the road, failure to wear a seatbelt, and failure to obey a traffic light. He was also served on his outstanding warrants and held on a $2,000 secured bond. |
