A concerned citizen worried about the safety of a child discovered a wanted New Jersey man.

On February 24th at approximately 11:55 p.m. Deputy I.E. Baldi responded to Mr. B’s, located at 375 Warrenton Road, for a possible missing child found. The caller advised they were helping a male out with a flat tire who had a child with him. The caller advised the child looked almost identical to a child from a Wisconsin Amber Alert. Due to the circumstances, deputies quickly made contact with the suspect and the child.

Considering the child did look similar to the missing child, First Sergeant A.I. Assur and Sergeant B.U. Demirci contacted numerous law enforcement agencies to gather more information while Deputy Baldi and Deputy C.R. Szentkuti attempted to identify the suspect. The suspect had no identifying information and provided a name that would later be determined to be false. Later, deputies would hear the suspect on the phone make statements that he was “on the run” and he “shot somebody.” Due to the concerning statements he was detained until that information could be confirmed.

Through their investigation, the child was discovered to not be the missing Wisconsin child, but a relative to the suspect. The suspect was identified as Gucci Horvath, 36. He was wanted out of Essex County, New Jersey for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with full extradition. He was charged with fugitive from justice, as well as, providing a false identity to law enforcement. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond while First Sergeant Assur, with the help of Child Protective Services, made contact with the child’s grandmother so she could retrieve the child.
