An intoxicated Stafford man decided to escalate an incident on the Chatham Bridge late last night by assaulting multiple deputies.
On February 8th at approximately 8:15 p.m. deputies responded to the Chatham Bridge for a disturbance. The caller advised people appeared to be fighting on the bridge. As one of our First Sergeants arrived, he observed three individuals in a bit of a physical struggle. A male and female were attempting to calm down another male, who was shirtless despite the frosty February temperatures.
The First Sergeant made contact with the individuals in an attempt to discover what was going on, and to ensure no one was trying to hurt themselves or another. While the female and first male were calm, the other male was just the opposite and was constantly yelling. Nearby deputies responded and they all observed signs of intoxication coming from the suspect. He further advised he didn’t “need” to go to jail; however, deputies thought otherwise.
When deputies attempted to detain the suspect, he lunged towards the First Sergeant. That poor choice was corrected when he was placed into handcuffs. The suspect continued to resist and, in the process, decided to kick a Sergeant and Deputy. At no point did deputies request to be kicked. The suspect would only identify himself as “your mom.” He was in fact not a deputy’s mom.
“Your mom” was eventually identified as Jason McIntire Jr., 26. He was charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and public intoxication. McIntire was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail pending his willingness to participate in a bond hearing. |
