A 16 and 17-year-old received criminal complaints after crashing a vehicle into a tree on their way to Waffle House.

On January 14th at approximately 1:49 a.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to the intersection of Countryside Drive and Stony Hill Road for a single vehicle auto accident. The caller, a passerby, advised he located a Honda Civic that had crashed into a tree. While the vehicle was there, no occupants were found.

While investigating the crash, Deputy Amato located empty cans of alcoholic beverages near the vehicle. Moments later, a male arrived advising his juvenile daughter was involved. He was awoken by her and one of her friends who advised they had gotten into a crash. Instead of staying on scene, the pair walked back to the residence. Deputy Amato responded to the residence to speak with the pair.

The driver and passenger, both juveniles, advised they were on their way to Waffle House when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Noticing signs of intoxication, Deputy Amato inquired when they last drank alcohol. They both advised they consumed alcohol immediately before their Waffle House run.

Criminal complaints for driving after illegally consuming alcohol, underage possession of alcohol, and reckless driving were filed for the driver. The passenger received a criminal complaint for underage possession of alcohol. Both were released back to a responsible family member.
