On January 10th at 10:58 a.m. deputies responded to the Publix at 1640 Publix Way for a hit and run. The caller reported a black Chevy Camaro with South Carolina tags had backed into his vehicle causing minor damage.

Instead of stopping to exchange information, the Camaro driver left the scene. The other driver gave chase in his Hyundai, following the Camaro onto Courthouse Road.

The Camaro driver made a U-turn on Courthouse Road and the Hyundai driver attempted to follow suit. However, the Hyundai driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and caused an accident. There were minor injuries in the crash, the Hyundai was now totaled and Courthouse Road was briefly closed for the clean-up.

Meanwhile, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Deputies did what they do best, find the suspect! Deputy N.D. Fonseca III located the Camaro on I-95 and conducted a traffic stop with the assistance of Deputy G.P. McCaulley. And just like that, this crime was ended faster than the Washington Commander’s playoff hopes.

The driver was identified as Alicia Brown, 27, of Columbia, South Carolina. Deputies discovered in addition to not having a driver’s license, Brown lacked insurance.

Brown was charged with hit and run, no operator’s license, and no insurance. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,500 bond.
