A 30-year-old Stafford woman, who was more concerned about her bucket list than traffic safety, will be facing a judge after a pursuit up Richmond Highway.
On January 3rd at approximately 6:32 p.m. Deputy G.P. McCaulley was traveling Northbound on Richmond Highway when he stopped at the red light at the intersection of Centreport Boulevard. As soon as the light turned green the vehicle next to him, a silver Chrysler 300, accelerated at a high rate of speed, and began traveling 77 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Deputy McCaulley activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop.
The suspect vehicle put on their hazard lights and slowed down; however, failed to pull over despite numerous opportunities to do so. At the red light at the intersection of Eskimo Hill Road, the driver signaled they were about to pull over, but instead when the light turned green continued straight on. First Sergeant B.W. Collins joined in the pursuit near Hospital Center Boulevard when the vehicle turned into Stafford Hospital’s parking lot. As First Sergeant Collins followed behind the vehicle, Deputy McCaulley went around the vehicle and pulled in front of it, forcing it to stop. The driver was detained without further incident.
The driver was discovered to not be licensed, and did not take the situation seriously. She would joke that “running from the cops” was on her “bucket list.” The joke would end when she realized there are consequences for one’s actions. She was charged with eluding police, reckless driving, and driving without a license. Her vehicle was also impounded. |
