Two Spotsylvania men attempted to drive a stolen vehicle through Stafford during rush hour. That plan was quickly foiled by First Sergeant B.W. Collins.
On October 2nd at approximately 5:50 p.m. First Sergeant Collins observed a vehicle that was stolen out of Washington DC. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on the I-95 Southbound on ramp from Warrenton Road as Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to assist. The driver, Troy Fletcher, 28, was quickly detained.
Fletcher advised he only “borrowed” the vehicle; however, after contacting the vehicle’s owner, that was discovered to certainly not be the case. Deputy Sterne identified the passenger as Keith Thompson, 33. Thompson was wanted out of Westmoreland County for a felony probation violation. During a search incident to arrest, suspected controlled substances were located on Thompson’s person.
Fletcher was charged with receiving stolen goods. Thompson was charged with possession of controlled substances, as well as, served on his outstanding charge. Both were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
