A Stafford man predicted his destination last night to bystanders as he fled the scene of a crash.
On August 18th at 11:33 p.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor IV responded to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of Truslow Road. He arrived to find a damaged Toyota Tacoma off the roadway and significant damage to a utility pole on the shoulder. Witnesses reported the driver had exited the truck and fled on foot, declaring he was going to jail. This was definitely a bit of foreshadowing.
Deputy Trainor located the 23-year-old driver walking along the road and quickly recognized the odor of alcoholic beverage, slurred speech and glassy, bloodshot eyes.
The driver was arrested for DUI second offense in five years and hit and run. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
