A Petersburg man is facing numerous serious charges from three different incidents in Stafford County.
On March 25th at 11:00 p.m. deputies responded to the Exxon-Tiger Mart at 280 Garrisonville Road for the report of a robbery. The investigation revealed the suspect entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded the clerk open the cash register. The suspect then fled the scene.
Detective D.A. Flues was assigned the case and was able to identify the suspect as Michael Scott, Jr., 37, of Petersburg. Deputies learned Scott was staying in Foxwood Village yesterday and set up surveillance on a residence. The SWAT team was activated and deployed to the neighborhood. Just before 10:30 p.m. last night, Scott was called out of the residence and surrendered without incident. During a search of the residence a toy gun matching the description of the gun used in the robbery was recovered.
Scott was additionally developed as a suspect in the robbery of the Circle K at 34 Prosperity Lane on November 6th of last year. Furthermore, Scott was implicated in the burglary of Paisano’s Pizza in Stafford Market Place on March 15th of this year.
Scott has been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, abduction, burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Great teamwork by deputies and detectives to link this suspect to the crimes and take him into custody without incident. This is an ongoing investigation. |
