A New York man was deposited at Rappahannock Reginal Jail after attempting to fraudulently withdraw cash from a Stafford bank. The evidence, instead of being written on the wall, was written on the suspect’s hand.

On March 14th, at approximately 1:58 p.m., Deputy S.M. Craig responded to United Bank, located at 289 Garrisonville Road, for a fraud in progress. Staff at the bank advised a man was attempting to withdraw from someone else’s account. Deputy Craig arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect. The suspect provided a driver’s license and advised it was just a “misunderstanding”. The so-called misunderstanding deepened when Deputy Craig noticed the driver’s license was fake.

Deputies were able to obtain the information on the victim that the suspect was pretending to be, and confirmed they were not one in the same. The suspect was subsequently placed in handcuffs. As Deputy Craig handcuffed the suspect, he noticed writing on the suspect’s hand. The suspect had written a cheat sheet on his hand for the identity he stole. Deputy Craig also located two more driver’s licenses with different names, three stolen credit cards, and suspected controlled substances. Additionally, another cheat sheet with someone else’s information was located in his wallet. Luckily, the suspect was carrying his real identity as well.

Frank Ferro, 43, was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail where he was asked if there were any other controlled substances. Ferro denied that; however, that lie was quickly uncovered when more suspected controlled substances were located. Ferro was charged with three counts of identity theft, four counts of credit card theft, two counts of uttering, obtaining money by false pretenses, falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and prisoner in possession of a controlled substance. Ferro was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
