Double the wanted individuals, double the drugs. Deputies located two wanted individuals last night after they littered on Warrenton Road. On February 9th at approximately 8:17 p.m. Deputy S.C. Jett was traveling Southbound on Warrenton Road near South Gateway Drive when he observed a vehicle being driven by a wanted individual. As Deputy Jett attempted to conduct a traffic stop, an object was nonchalantly flung from the vehicle. Deputy F.C. O’Neill quickly responded to assist.
Both Deputy Jett and Deputy O’Neill made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The driver, William Haley, 56, of Spotsylvania, had an active warrant out of Stafford for possession of a controlled substance. On this traffic stop, deputies got two for the price of one. The passenger, James Hayden, 44, of Stafford, also had active warrants. He was wanted out of Stafford for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute. Both were subsequently placed in handcuffs.
Deputies located the item that was flung out of the vehicle, a cigarette pack; however, it was not filled with cigarettes. The pack contained suspected controlled substances. Suspected controlled substances were also located on Hayden’s person and within the vehicle. The story doesn’t end there. The drug duo was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail. A search of Hayden in the booking area revealed a fanny pack concealed under Hayden’s clothes, wrapped like a cummerbund around his midsection. The fanny pack, as you may have guessed, contained suspected controlled substances. Hayden advised he didn’t know he had that on him and earned another warrant.
Haley was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, littering, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. Hayden was charged with possession of a controlled substance, prisoner in possession of a controlled substance, as well as, served on his outstanding warrants. Both Haley and Hayden were held without bond. |
