A Woodstock man had a bit of a Saturday Night Fever after crashing a vehicle in a Target parking lot.
On January 28th at approximately 5:02 p.m. Deputy R.J. Kemp responded to Target located at 25 South Gateway Drive for a report of an auto accident. The caller advised two unoccupied vehicles were struck by a silver sedan and that the driver of the sedan was dancing in the driver’s seat.
As deputies arrived, the suspect driver, or Dirty Dancer, got a bit Footloose and attempted to run from the scene. That tango ended when he was detained. The suspect had slurred speech, glassy eyes and enlarged pupils. During the search incident to arrest, suspected controlled substances were located on his person.
The investigation took a spin turn when it was discovered the vehicle he was driving was not his. The owner advised he never gave the suspect permission to drive his vehicle. The 37-year-old suspect was charged with driving under the influence, two counts of hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, as well as, unauthorized use of a vehicle. The suspect was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bail.
Great work to Deputy Kemp for your part in keeping Stafford safe. |
