A suspect has been arrested after a hit and run accident last week in North Stafford.
On December 23rd at 5:52 p.m. deputies responded to an accident at the intersection of Garrisonville Road and Furnace Road. The evidence revealed a westbound GMC truck struck the rear of a Ford Fusion at the traffic signal. The impact of the crash forced the Ford Fusion into the rear of an Infiniti sedan. The driver of the truck reversed from the accident scene and then continued westbound around the damaged vehicles.
One injured driver was transported from the scene by ambulance. Deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene and broadcasted a lookout for the suspect vehicle. The GMC was located later in the evening, unoccupied, at a residence on Garrisonville Road. The damaged truck was seized as evidence and a part from a Ford Fusion was located, impaled on the front bumper of the truck.
As a result of the investigation, Terry Smith, 62, of Stafford was arrested on December 28th for felony hit and run. He was released by the magistrate on an unsecured bond. This is an ongoing investigation. |
