A wanted man was arrested in South Stafford yesterday evening and added to his charges when he assaulted a deputy.

On December 23rd at 4:56 p.m. deputies responded to a disturbance on Stonehaven Drive. One of the subjects involved in the disturbance was identified as Malik Wood, 25. Deputies discovered Wood had an active warrant in Prince William for a probation violation.

As deputies attempted to detain Wood on the staircase of the apartment complex, Wood struck one of the deputies in the chest. Wood continued to struggle with deputies and attempted to escape their grasp by flailing about. A taser was utilized and Wood was successfully detained. No deputies were injured during the incident.

Wood was served the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with assault on law enforcement, obstruction with force, and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
