The neighborhood dogs in Leeland Station needed an alternate location for a pit stop last night after a driver annihilated a fire hydrant.

At 8:33 p.m. yesterday, as many were focused on John Dutton’s election bid for governor of Montana in the Yellowstone season 5 premiere, Deputy K.P. Hall responded to a hit and run on Arboretum Drive. Deputy Hall arrived to find a fire hydrant had been struck, dislodged and abandoned in the center of the street. There was no need for a K-9 track, as Deputy Hall followed a trail of vehicle fluids from the accident scene to a damaged, unoccupied Honda in a nearby driveway.

The driver was identified as Duron Carter, 31, of Stafford. He was charged with felony destruction of property, hit and run, expired inspection and expired registration. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.
