A Lorton woman spent her Halloween in Rappahannock Regional Jail after consuming alcohol and assaulting a deputy.
On October 31st, just after midnight, deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at the Super 8 Motel located at 25 Wicomico Drive. The caller advised a female with red hair and gray leggings was banging on their door. Sergeant K.P. Lytle arrived on scene and was able to locate a woman matching the description provided.
The women, later identified as Nataya Wooden Harris, 32, had slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. It was clear she was intoxicated and Sergeant Lytle and Deputy J.C. Thomas attempted to place her in handcuffs. Harris did not like that idea.
Harris resisted arrest as she cursed at deputies and used racial slurs. After a bit of a struggle, deputies handcuffed Harris and placed her in Deputy Thomas’s vehicle. During this time, it was discovered Harris had an active warrant out of Prince William for a hit and run. She was transported to the magistrate’s office where her behavior escalated.
As Deputy Thomas and Deputy C.C. Crossett conversed with the magistrate, Harris became unruly and aggressively approached Deputy Crossett. While attempting to sit her down, Harris assaulted Deputy Crossett, which added another charge to her ever-growing list.
Harris was charged with public intoxication, obstruction of justice, as well as, assault and battery on law enforcement. She was also served on her active warrant. Harris was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Great work by all the deputies involved for remaining calm and deescalating the situation. |
